In-Game Designs!

I would like to thank everyone that worked on the Eclipse project with me :) and especially those who featured their work ingame. you guys have been a simply spectacular team!
i heard some AWESOME stuff today about the game.. they were extremely impressed, this has quite possibly been the most sucessful project yet, and i think we should be Damn proud!

there (as always) were some errors and content that was not implemented in the end, but we got alot of it in, and it was Alot by comparison to the earlier projects.
i will be seeing about a revised version with some of these errors fixxed and a little more implemented, and then ill be seeing about oraganising you coppies if we can ;)

Model Updates

Hey Guys!
here's an update on what's been happening as of late :)
well first off the progress is looking pretty awesome altogether!
the programers are making a WAY cool engine the is almost complete, and seeing the models coming in is bringing it altogher well :)

Island of Stone, Water and Bone

hey guys once more :P
messed around today and i got a pretty good base for the yet unnamed island of stone, water and bone

it is a Neutral landscape, this is a very small island where the player learns to fight and use magic and ether. it is a grey-stoned, water island (water forms here and cascades off the edge) there is a a pool in the middle of the island that used to be part of a large sea creature graveyard (when the island used to be part of a larger one) as a result of the land being previously submerged, there is frequent erosion marks, coral and barnacle growths on the lower stones.

there is also a flourecent mineral that runs through the island in veins, giving a faint blue underglow to some areas that were erroded

the land is set in evening where the sun sets casting a rich orange and yellow tint over the grey and blue landscape. and oncoming rain storm from the opposing side casts shadow over the distant islands
well at least thats the idea ;) soon to come.

just figured i'd show you what tasty project i was baking today :)

H'Rika - Volcanic Island

Hey Eclipse team :)just thought i'd upload my progress for the day,
started messing around with this today and i magaged to get a pretty decent start on the volcanic desert island of H'Rika :)

i have built the main hub of the island, a primitive hut structure and volcanic steam mill (not animated yet and missing particles) got some foliage in thar, and made the volcano active :) oh and did all the textures, made some normal maps too..

A Day landscape, this is a small circular island featuring a towering volcano in the centre, the landscape is barren with some occasional mostly dead grass, trees and plants.
the inhabitants have learned to make crude mills that use the volcanic steam that escapes from the vents to allow them to farm so there may be some small farming equiptment or crops.
other than that things that will be present on the island are volcanic vents and geysers, bones, fossils, primitive structures as seen, glass and obsidian deposits and various things along those line. if you by anychance have an idea of something to add then let me know! :D or by all means give making it a go :)



the hut is meant to resemble slightly an old mediteranean oven or kiln

please note: skybox is a placeholder, i have yet to make a new one ;)

Update time :)

Hey everyone! i hope your holidays were all nice and relaxing, mine were.. kinda. but i hope yours were! :P

here are some small updates i figured i'd share. i am looking forward to seeing what you have all gotten upto in the past week :)
we will be moving onto our next tasks on monday :D
so if you havent finnished your creature's geometry, unwrap and rigging (diploma) or you havent finnished your geometry and unwrap (cert 4) then HURRY UP! because they are due, and after 10 weeks im sure that should be more then reasonable.

anyways, on to other goss :)
here are some of the more pretty things i have done working over the break:

game icon design, featuring the carving design for the shell tower and the carving for force (coming out of the shell i think it works ok :) but hopefully you guys will out do me



Gambaro the Neutral Oracle:
this is the progress so far on the grande boss oracle, he guards the shell tower-ether sprite colony and refuses to follow either god, instead lives among the ether sprites and draws his power directly from the plannet's ether core and the sprites.

some pretty unique spells shall be seen here ;)

Next is a new creature i made couple days ago, i realised that sol doesnt have nearly as many creatures as lune..

here is the Ji-Gumo Matriarch!
based off the awesome Ji-Gumo concept by Luke Davis;

the Ji-Gumo is a creature that as it progresses in life, it decays rapidly until the point where the majority of it's skin is missing, its thick bones act as an exo-skeleton of sorts, peserving it's life.

Ji-gumo follow spider and boar-like traits and that is the basis for the Matriarch.
the matriarch is a larger, powerfully built royal strain of Ji-Gumo that is chosen to produce the next brood of offspring, five large bones extruding from it's scalp are used as a nursery crown for baby and unhatched Ji-Gumo brood to live in until they are of age to leave.


it's interlocking tusk teeth, jagged bone structure and huge barbed tusks are there to defend it's nursery crown, behind the J-Gumo's strength and speed, this is a very dangerous creature to face

inside of the Nursery Crown, Ji-Gumo eggs mature in growths seeded from the matriarch's bone marow, absorbing the nutrients directly from their mother's blood supply

story may be subject to change, but thats what the design was.

Solhar V2!

Hey guys!
i bring great news, the horifficly creepy solhar has been re-made at last
the first solhar has the interesting tactical abillity that in-game it could make the person controlling the computer feel uncomfortable simply by looking at it too long

well sadly this is no more, but the new one is adorable so its ok

the new Solhar is a design Tanya did back in the beginning of the project :)
here it is:



as the Solhar is a day creature, the night themed design couldnt work.
soooo i made both!
still a WIP, on-off two nights work so be nice :P

the standard Solhar, a low level day creature that fires bolts of light from the projection above its head, can be created at a very low level




Dark Solhar / Lunhar / Corrupted Solhar
This is Tanya's texture design, it has the purple shiny skin and the moth ears, it also has one tooth extruding. its also slightly bigger than the normal Solar
i changed the eyes abit and it is still a work in progress but yeah :)



the Corrupted/Dark Solhar will be a powerful+rare unlockable creature
a unique centerpiece for an army :)


now just to animate and fix those texture seams

DPS Calculator

Hey guys

new update for you all

Liam and I have developed a new tool for use in balancing the two teams.
the problem is;
all of the creatures you get each level dont mirror eachother perfectly, so balancing will be quite difficult.

so thats where this tool will come in handy!
it takes the damage values and attack delay of attacks and calculates the DPS values for us :)

it even has a pretty icon i made :D

also im sure this will be useful for many future games made here
