Progress

Over the past few weeks i have completed my plant model and put it on gonzo :D, started and almost finished my environmental object, and of course finished and submitted my volcabeetle. other than that not much else has been done.

Model Updates

Hey Guys!
here's an update on what's been happening as of late :)
well first off the progress is looking pretty awesome altogether!
the programers are making a WAY cool engine the is almost complete, and seeing the models coming in is bringing it altogher well :)

Some ideas






A few concept ideas for the volanic desert level. A skull of a Ji-Gumo stuck on a stick, could be a trophy of some sort or a warning that there are wild Ji-Gumo about with other creatures that could be lurking also.
Also I have the volcano and made a hive inside it, I havent got much info about it except creatures use it to transport around or live within it.

Update time :)

Hey everyone! i hope your holidays were all nice and relaxing, mine were.. kinda. but i hope yours were! :P

here are some small updates i figured i'd share. i am looking forward to seeing what you have all gotten upto in the past week :)
we will be moving onto our next tasks on monday :D
so if you havent finnished your creature's geometry, unwrap and rigging (diploma) or you havent finnished your geometry and unwrap (cert 4) then HURRY UP! because they are due, and after 10 weeks im sure that should be more then reasonable.

anyways, on to other goss :)
here are some of the more pretty things i have done working over the break:

game icon design, featuring the carving design for the shell tower and the carving for force (coming out of the shell i think it works ok :) but hopefully you guys will out do me



Gambaro the Neutral Oracle:
this is the progress so far on the grande boss oracle, he guards the shell tower-ether sprite colony and refuses to follow either god, instead lives among the ether sprites and draws his power directly from the plannet's ether core and the sprites.

some pretty unique spells shall be seen here ;)

Next is a new creature i made couple days ago, i realised that sol doesnt have nearly as many creatures as lune..

here is the Ji-Gumo Matriarch!
based off the awesome Ji-Gumo concept by Luke Davis;

the Ji-Gumo is a creature that as it progresses in life, it decays rapidly until the point where the majority of it's skin is missing, its thick bones act as an exo-skeleton of sorts, peserving it's life.

Ji-gumo follow spider and boar-like traits and that is the basis for the Matriarch.
the matriarch is a larger, powerfully built royal strain of Ji-Gumo that is chosen to produce the next brood of offspring, five large bones extruding from it's scalp are used as a nursery crown for baby and unhatched Ji-Gumo brood to live in until they are of age to leave.


it's interlocking tusk teeth, jagged bone structure and huge barbed tusks are there to defend it's nursery crown, behind the J-Gumo's strength and speed, this is a very dangerous creature to face

inside of the Nursery Crown, Ji-Gumo eggs mature in growths seeded from the matriarch's bone marow, absorbing the nutrients directly from their mother's blood supply

story may be subject to change, but thats what the design was.

Ji-Gumo Rigged and UV's


Update on the creature. I finished all the rigging with a biped but with a few little bits still to tweek around, also the UV mapping is completed and soon going to take into photoshop and color in the creature.

Yeah spent most of the lesson clearing lines i didn't need and structurering the biped.

Edit: I've also decided to remove the bone hooks under the hoofs and instead i've gone with suckers, much like an ocutpus.

Kohjuma Action Sheet

I've roughly drawn up some action movements for this critter that it would do in the game.

1. Sleeping stance when it hides in tall grass to rest, it stands as it does and keeps its arm crossed against it, this is so that it doesn’t accidently get spotted because it’s gone and left its arms poking out from the grass even though it’s using the scent from its grass hair to cover up its own scent.

2. This is its attacking action, this is used when attempting to take down a big enemy, it will leap towards the enemy, bring its arms and legs and then spring them out to latch onto the enemy, also while doing this it brings out its bone hooks from under the hoofs of its feet to keep stuck on the enemy, then it will began feasting.

3. Not much to say for this action, its rolling and that’s pretty much it, it does keep its arms and legs tucked up against it for that nice smooth roll and not under any hazard of snagging onto something, the faster it gets it will eventually begin to bounce, like a ball.

4. Taunting action especially during a standoff against an enemy, it hops with a one leg to the other motion while waving its arms, it moves side to side as it does this followed by growls/barks.

5. Crouching down action, used when feeding on prey that’s dead or taken down, sometimes even doing it while feeding on smaller creatures.

6. Running action, this was a little tricky to try and pull off but the way it runs is it keeps one leg down while it brings the other forward, it’s almost like a speed walk kind of motion.

Kohjuma (Finally got a name)

Michelle and I finally got a name for this critter, we agreed to Kohjuma because it sounds similar to Luke's creature Ji-Gumo and since we're kind of having them pitted together we thought it was suitable.
Anyway this is the start of me modelling it, doesn't look good now because haven't quite got it all shaped out yet.

Iv'e started to model the Ji-Gumo and this is the basic shape of it. I do notice there is a few mishapen parts on it but will tweek around them later.

Crab Monster


This is the CRAB monster, A crazy one eyed crab with a glow tail to attract its prey.
This is roughly 50cm high and grow to over 1m long.
Its crawl have to crushing strength of 10 tons!

Coloured Characters



This is what ive got so far for my oracle. Not too much colour in her, she is made out of a goldy brass colour. Her hair, corset arms and neck are a nice brass colour to show that they are her armor
ive exstended her dress a bit more too and figured out how her arms will bend, it just simpally bendy metal, which i will post later when im done with that
i will b posting a model sheet for my oracle soon





This is my creature coloured in. i also put the luna simble on his leg and made his eyes glowing. i also came up with 3 possible names which you can see in the picture below, they are; Cheesour, Dinochee and Flickasour. They dont have to be the names its just a last minute thing i came up with

Hi guys here's my designs i have been working on the past few weeks




This is a glutinous fleshy green character i have been working on. The name is yet to come.




This charter I design I was thinking could be used as part of the environment , he could be like a pest creature, poisonous to the touch and give a certain amount damage each time you touch him.

I was thinking he could be animated to bounce and jump as a form of transport.
